FEAR FACTOR OR FAITH FACTOR?

This week our Matthew Odyssey leads us into Chapter 14;

* 14:1-12 - The Death of John the Baptist
* 14:13-21 - The Feeding of the Five Thousand
* 14:22-33 - Jesus Walks on the Water
* 14:34-36 - Jesus Heals the Sick

Our focus for worship will be the story of Jesus walking on the water. As you read verses 22 - 33 pay special attention to the relationship of FEAR and FAITH. Can you identify five fear factors? Can you identify five faith factors? What creates fear? What creates faith? If you can't be here on Sunday you can visit our website next week to hear the fear and faith factors.

As we enter July there are two special emphases that I want to make sure all of us are praying about.

* Pray that the necessary funds will be received this month so we can proceed with the ROOF REPAIR PROJECT.
* Pray that many persons will sign up to be involved in the EXTREME SUNDAY MAKEOVER emphasis.

Music Camp: Livin' Inside Out in an Upside Down World
July 9-13, 2007 from 9:00-11:30 am
Students, grades 2-6, are invited to join director, Kristina Bjorkman.  This year we will be rehearsing, choreographing and producing the musical. Registration is $20 and includes music, CD, and T-shirt. The musical will be shared in worship on Sunday, July 15th, here at Central.

Canadian Fishing Trip
July 28 - August 4; Cost: $435
We are joining the men of Zion Lutheran in Anoka for the 1st annual fishing ministries at Pasha Lake Cabins in Ontario, Canada. The $435 includes 7 nights lodging, breakfast, dinner, boats, motor, trailers, gas, bait, license and good fellowship. This is a walleye dream trip. Call the Church office for additional information. Dan Dixon from Central will be along to help all of us novices - yes he will bait your hook and clean your fish.

L.A.M.E
Is your summer looking LAME? Join us for L.A.M.E. (Lunch And Movie Excursion).    Tuesday, July 10th!   Kicks off at 12:00 Noon at Central Lutheran Church where we will drive to Subway/Taco John’s for lunch and then to the Elk River Movie Theatre for a movie (TBD).  Don't be lame; come to L.A.M.E.! ValleyFair!
Join us on July 31 for an all day trip to ValleyFair!  Meet at Central at 9:00am and return by 10:00pm. Cost: $30 (assuming 25 kids register) plus $ for lunch and dinner.

Crossroads Dinner
Wednesday, July 25
Volunteers are needed to help serve the parking lot dinner to the homeless in the Philips neighborhood, downtown Minneapolis, on Wednesday, July 25. We arrive about 5:00 and return about 8:00 pm. If you cannot participate in a week-end or week-long mission trip, this is an opportunity to get a little taste of missions. If you are unable to serve but would be willing to donate food, that would be great, too. Please sign up for serving or food donations in the welcome folder or call the church office, 441-2363!

Mission Garage Sale  
Do you have stuff you don’t know what to do with? Donate it to the Mission garage sale.  If you have old and slightly used  household items, furniture,  knick  knacks…  we have the place for them!  Please call Linda or Jim at 763-441-2465 to make arrangements to drop items off at the trailer or we will have someone pick up the items. Central Relay for Life 
Central is forming two teams to walk in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. August 3-4 at the ERHS track. We will camp out, walk the track, meet lots of  people, and raise funds for the fight against cancer. Alissa Peichel and Carole Eckstrom will  co-lead this event.  If you would like to purchase a luminary bag, we will have them available in the lobby TODAY and again on Sundays,  June 24 and July 22.

Healing Prayer
Tuesday, July 10, 7:00-8:30 pm, in the Prayer Chapel.
There will be an opportunity for extended prayers for healing. If you would like more information, please contact Jan Sjostrand at 263-8136.

Roof Repair
At the Congregational Meeting on June 10, the Roof Repair Project was unanimously approved.  We need to raise $30,000 to proceed with the much needed repairs.  Please give generously !
