Women's Connect - October 21,2010

Dear sisters in Christ,

It’s the week of women’s retreat and I can hardly wait to head south!  We are so excited about the 70 women who will be coming to explore “Women with Fake I.D.s”!  We do have a last minute all expense paid spot for someone.  Are you that person?  Please consider this last minute invitation to come and join us.  Carpools leave all day on Friday and we’ll return by noon on Sunday.  Is this a divine appointment for you? J  Just respond to this e-mail and you’re in!  For those of you not able to come, please pray for our women! Thanks!

Have you checked out the website with the pictures of the children from Tanzania waiting to be sponsored?  Do visit and prayerfully consider sponsoring one of these darlings.  I also hope you’ll consider joining me for a trip to Tanzania to meet these children.  There will be an information meeting on Sunday, November 7th, following the 11:00 worship service (so about 12:15).  What an appropriate thing to do on Orphan Sunday, don’t you think?!   Dan and I can hardly wait to meet the children we are sponsoring when we travel to Tanzania the end of October, 2011!  Join us!

Don’t you just love this Acts journey, “Touched by Fire”?  I am challenged and encouraged at every turn.  At our staff meeting this afternoon we were looking at the text for this Sunday, Acts 4.  It is a continuation of the story of the healing of the man crippled from birth which I preached on last Sunday – a wonderful story of God’s healing power and of the transforming power accessed by faith in the name of Jesus.  Listen to this descriptor of Peter and John, the agents of God’s healing power.  Acts 4:13  “Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.”  How cool is that?  They were recognized, even by the religious authorities they were criticizing, that they had been with Jesus.  It is so my prayer that people could say that about me.  I want to be recognized as one who has been with, and continues to be with, Jesus.  It might be worth your time to consider what that would look like for you?

I hope to see you all at the Get Healthy Seminar on Saturday, October 30th, 8-11:30 a.m.  We will be discussing one of our core values, “embedding the Bible in everything.”  That is a big week-end as Sunday is Reformation Sunday and also the Rite of Confirmation here at Central.  There is another place for prayer – the 60+ youth who will be publicly affirming their faith in Jesus Christ.  Remember to pray each day for the body of Christ at Central.  We are dependent on your prayers!

Know my prayers are for you – that your security and identity are in Christ alone, and that you experience the healing power available to you by faith in the name of Jesus!  God is still about the healing business.  Ask Him to meet you in your place of greatest need and wait on Him.  He is faithful and can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20)!

God’s grace and peace-

Sonja Dixon
