The Gospel for Baby Boomers (born 1946-1965). Are you feeling like you just "can’t get no satisfaction?" Does it seem sometimes that people are treating you like "nothin’ but a hound dog?" And does it look as if there might be a "bad moon rising" in your life? This day might be just what you need to "soothe your soul" so you can start "feelin’ groovy" again.
Come and "reminisce about the days of old with some old time rock and roll." Each session will begin with a song from the 60’s or 70’s. Pastor Leon (an aging Baby Boomer himself) will then use the lyrics from that song to reflect on what the Bible says about the "spirit in the sky" (our Rock of Ages), and why you "gotta have a friend in Jesus," so that "when you die, and they lay you to rest, you can go to the place that’s the best." In other words, the music will serve as a springboard into a slightly off the wall look at what it means to believe in Jesus, both for now and forever. (NOTE to youngsters: "words in italics" are lyrics from old songs.) ALL AGES ARE INVITED.
The Boomers might be more interested in the music; but if you are younger, come and hear what you missed; if you are older, come and hear the music your kids were always playing way too loud. It is hoped that everyone will get new insight into how the Gospel of Jesus Christ can meet the needs and longings expressed in popular culture (including some of today’s books and movies). This study will be held on Saturday, February 18 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in rooms 218 and 219. Cost: $5.00 which includes lunch. Please sign up at the Welcome Center or in the church office.

A six –week Tom and Kim Blackaby bible study

The Wednesday FAITH LESSONS will resume on January 11. We will again meet in the sanctuary from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., and then have lunch together in the fellowship hall. We will continue with the Ray Vander Laan film series “That the World May Know.” Sessions will be led by Pastor Stier.

Marriage preparation at Central is guided by our sense that God's faithful love is the foundation upon which Christian marriage is built. As you prepare for your marriage, we are committed to helping you lay a foundation that will help you thrive as a couple.
Central's ministry of marriage preparation includes:
Step 1. Participate in the pre-marriage workshop. Upcoming dates:
- October 8, 2011 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
- January 28, 2012 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
- April 21, 2012 from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Step 2. Two counseling session to interpret the preliminary inventory you will take at the workshop.
Step 3. Schedule session(s) with the officiating pastor for prayer, planning and preparation. |
