Welcome to Central’s Women’s Ministry.

You are among sisters here!  I look forward to your participation in any of a number of ministry opportunities at Central.  Also know that I would count it a privilege to share a cup of coffee with you (or cider or hot chocolateJ ) if you would like to hear more about my heart for this ministry.  I love getting to know women and know you and I could become good friends in Christ.  Also, if there are specific ways I can prayer for you or if you have any spiritual questions, please don’t hesitate to give me a call in the church office, or e-mail me through this website.  God has been faithfully transforming the hearts of women here at Central.  I am so glad you are considering being a part of this dynamic ministry!

Dear sisters in Christ,

I know I’ve written about waiting on God before.  The Bible certainly says a fair amount about that and as we’ve led the Focused Living workshops we’ve talked about transitions and waiting on God in those times.  I recently read about the other side to this- God often waits for us! J.R. Miller wrote this:  “Quite often we fail to receive the blessing He has ready for us because we are not moving forward with Him.  While it is true we miss many blessings by not waiting for God, we also lose numerous blessings by overwaiting. Many of God’s promises are conditional, requiring some initial action on our part.  Once we begin to obey, He will begin to bless us.  Great things were promised to Abraham, but not one of them could have been obtained had he waited in Chaldea.  He had to leave his home, friends, and country, travel unfamiliar paths, and press on in unwavering obedience in order to receive the promises.” (Consider also the 10 lepers in Luke 17  …as they went, they were cleansed” or the Israelites crossing the Red Sea or stepping into the Jordan.)

I want to encourage those of you who are holding back to step out with bold confidence and receive the promises of God.

One of the places Central is bolding stepping out is in launching pastorates and discipleship groups.  Please consider which information meeting you will attend.  Lots of options are listed on our website or in the newsletter or worship bulletin.

I’m also excited about the spiritual growth course I’ll be leading based on the book Magnificent Obsession. If you desire a more passionate journey of faith I hope you’ll join us.  The course will be offered on Monday mornings, beginning March 5th, 10-11:30, and also Thursday evenings, 7-9:30 beginning March 8th.  Books are available in the bookstore and registration is available in the church office or on the website.

For those of you who have completed the Focused Living Workshop, several of you have asked for a follow-up get together.  I’m happy to facilitate that but would like suggestions for the best time to meet.  We have had three workshops and anyone from those three experiences would benefit.

God’s blessings as you move forward in faith.  I know this prompting is straight from the Holy Spirit so if you feel the nudge- move out!  I’m moving out to Jamaica this next week so know I’ll be praying for you as I bask in the sun and Son!

God’s love, joy, peace- Sonja Dixon
