Making Jesus Known

Women's Connect - August 27, 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Dear sisters in Christ,

Many thanks for the strong response to last week’s short and sweet (or not-so-sweet) women’s connect. We were able to add about 30 to our list of prayers and at least a dozen of you agreed to assist with phoning.  Huge thanks!!!!  We could still use another 20 to phone members and friends of Central, September 7-11th.  A packet of 15 cards and an instruction sheet, including the script, will be sent the week of August 30th.  Super simple!  We are also just shy of 200 people who have committed to pray for Central each day.  If you haven’t let us know what time of day you’ll try to pray for the body of Christ at Central, it’s not too late.  You are welcome to just respond to this e-mail.  Thanks, again.

I hope you all received your copy of the Women Encouraging Women Fall Directory.  If not, there are extra copies in the church office or at the welcome center.  Many thanks to Janet McCarty, Brenda Shirley and the team of volunteers who submitted information and assembled the booklets.  I’m so excited about the offerings for women here at Central. I hope you have read through your directory and marked those courses or activities that you will participate in and invite others to.  In addition, did you know there is a team of seven women who have committed to pray over every woman at Central for this program year?  Those prayers are going to have an impact on so many!  I cannot wait to see what God does in us and through us!

You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you walk into Central this Sunday.  Today and tomorrow is All Paints Day and the lobby is receiving a facelift.  If you would like to help paint just stop by tonight or tomorrow with your brush and work clothes.  It looks beautiful!

Sunday is the last day in the book of Joshua.  Can you believe our summer Joshua journey is almost over?  I value your prayers as I bring the message Sunday.  The text is Joshua 24:1-18 and our theme is “A Joshua 24:15 House.”  This is the verse where Joshua makes the strong statement, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  Will you stand and be counted as a spiritual leader in your home, committed to serving the Lord?  The joy of a house founded on faith cannot be surpassed.  There is nothing greater than the privilege of sharing the love of Christ with those closest to us.

Speaking of sharing the love of Christ, please consider this opportunity for service at Central.  We are still looking for individuals who are willing to spend time at the 9:30 morning worship during the sermon with Matt.  He is blind and has autism ~ we read the bible story and have discussion time for about 15-20 min.  Then back to service with his parents.  If we get enough volunteers, you would only be scheduled to do it once a month or once every 6 weeks, depending on how many step up to the plate.  Matt is a delightful 7th grader and I hope you will prayerfully consider this opportunity to serve.  This request comes from Carol Greier, our caring ministry person, so if you can help out, please contact her in the church office.

Blessings on another warm week-end.  For a good word, check out Psalm 147:1-10!  Here’s just a quick taste:  “He (the Lord) heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.  He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.”

God’s grace and peace- Sonja Dixon
