Children and Family Ministry 2011-12 PDF Print E-mail

Parents,

It’s hard to believe it’s that time again.  We are entering into fall, a new school year, and a new year of programming for Children and Family Ministry.  As parents, you are the greatest influence in the faith life of your children.  We look forward to partnering with you to provide a positive, Christian learning experience for your child; both at home and at church.  We expect you to support the program by volunteering in at least one of the areas listed on the Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet to make our program a success.  You can volunteer every week, every other week, once a month or occasionally.  We encourage you to make regular worship attendance, Children’s Chapel and/or G2K a priority for your family’s week.

Please register your child in the church office or online by September 14, 2011.   Children’s Chapel goes year-round, so that does not have a specific start-up date—we look forward to having your children join us every week.  Our new Sunday evening G2K programming will begin on Sunday, September 25.

Sunday evenings just got better!  We will be offering dinner every Sunday from 5:15-6:00 pm.  In order to offer this meal, we ask for families to contribute $2/person or $10/ max per family per meal.  Please understand our meal donations need to cover the cost of the meals.  We also know that some families will not be able to financially support this meal.  If you are able, please support the meal with a little extra when you can.

If you have any questions about Children and Family Ministry at Central Lutheran Church, please contact Kirsten Gill.  Our staff is happy to be here to support and encourage you and your child/ren in their faith development.

Blessings to you and your family ~ we look forward to our growing partnership!

Children’s Chapel:

We welcome children ages 3 years old through fifth grade to our Sunday morning Children’s Chapel learning time.  It is held during all morning worship services.  We believe it is important for families to worship together.  During our worship services children are dismissed during the announcements for a learning time planned for their age level.  We have two age groups Preschool-Kindergarten, and 1st-5th grade.  The children return to their families at the conclusion of the sermon.  Each week children receive a HomeFront weekly page.  This information is to help families prepare their children for the story coming up the following week.  If you miss a week or lose your copy, they can also be found on our website under the Kids section.  Although there is flexibility on which service you can attend every Sunday, we do ask that you register for the service that your children will be at the majority of the time.

G2K-Gathering God’s Kids:

This is our new learning time (a change from Tuesday School) for our 3 year old through fifth graders.  We will be linking up with The Gathering worship service on Sunday evenings.  We’ll start at 6:00 pm with families in the Sanctuary and then at around 6:15, we will have a blessing time and excuse the children from the Sanctuary to meet their group leaders in the lobby.  From there,  they will transition to their small and large group learning time.  The children will finish at 7:30 pm and be picked up in their classrooms.
