The Day After...

Central,

Yesterday a record number of persons participated in America’s political process. As I woke up this morning I wondered how many of us in our nation will take time to bow our heads in humble gratitude to God? Since we know of Christians in other parts of the world where faith cannot be expressed openly, where a conversation that dared to differ with the governing officials would be met with persecution, we shout HALLELUJAH AND PRAISE THE LORD that we are part of a democracy that allows us to do what we did yesterday! Regardless of you voted for all of us ought to be thankful to God for the freedom we experience.

Contrary to the freedom that we experience there are many who live in the midst of oppression and persecution. How appropriate then to have the unique opportunity to join other believers through out the world for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church through out the world. In anticipation of our Sanctuary worship experiences you are encouraged to do the following;

Read the story of the Fiery Furnace in Daniel 3.

Visit some of the following places to learn more about the body of Christ in the world;
www.persecution.com ,
www.FocusOnPersecution.org ,
www.releaseinternational.org ,  or
www.PrisonerAlert.com .

Be prepared to watch a five to seven minute video that introduces you to one person’s story. The video will be shown during the sermon and is not appropriate for children through fifth grade so I do encourage you to make sure your children participate in Children’s Chapel.

Pray that each of us who are members of Christ’s body at Central will become more connected to Christ’s body through out the world. A table of resources will be in the lobby on Sunday morning.

In addition to remembering, as opposed to being dismembered from, the body of Christ we will also receive new members, welcome five newly baptized, and commission the Mission Uganda team. For additional information about what’s happening at Central take time to visit www.clcelkriver.org .

Blessings!
