Two Bobs

Central Guys,

The following are two stories from Bob Johnson and Bob Gunderson from the Guys Get Away Weekend!  Thanks to Bob & Bob for sharing their stories;

A NOTE FROM BOB JOHNSON

As child growing up I was taught to lock everything, lock the House, lock your bike , put a lock on your locker at school, did you lock the garage, make sure you lock the car . Now at the guys getaway I was asked to give the keys over to Jesus, Wow! that's a lot of keys, but wait he's only asking for one, The key to your heart and soul, you mean where I put all my junk. The place you pile up the things you are ashamed of, the things you you wished you could do over , where you put bad memories of abuse, or drug use, or too much drinking, and lets not  forget words  you meant to be mean, getting mad easy, Now all of sudden you’re not so willing to hand over that key just yet.

But when you get to a point in your life where you ask yourself, what just happened here?  Your life is going by you seem to have the things you had ask Jesus for,  House, Car, Boat, Children, Grandchildren, but yet you seem stuck, Stuck that is until you enter in to Central Lutheran Church in the little town of Elk River Mn, Were we have and I say {we} because they make you feel at Home. We are blessed with the best staff right here in our own back yard ! Now that team will always be ranked number 1 in my book, I have all the number 1 picks in the draft.

Now with all that support and the support of Jesus and all the great people at Central who are there for all of us when we need help. Why are we still afraid to let Jesus have the Key. Do we think we will end up letting our hair grow out and holding signs up at the airport? It's about{ Stepping Up} Everyone, instead of the more things we thought would make us more happy? How about  [more Jesus] [more love], [more] time for people who need it, [more] listening,[more] time together in prayer,[more] forgiveness,[more] giving, [more] time being thankful, [more] time trying to be the best example to the next generation. I think we are blessed to have the number 1 picks all  here at Central. Let them help you as they are helping me and my Family Step it up.

A NOTE FROM BOB GUNDERSON

Once again I am so very glad I went to the retreat. I'm doubly glad because my son agreed to go along. He has returned to Cottage Grove and is going to start a Guys group devoted to our model with his church.

The time we spend together singing, listening to the word of God, praying and in fellowship with fellow Christians inspires me to be a better husband, father, and neighbor to those around me.

I am also glad that after hearing the stories of people desperately seeking employment, we as a men's group are going to try to assist in this effort.
